Japanese Mom Creates "Sleeping Infant Art"

Some mothers use their infant's nap time to catch up on house chores, but this Japanese mother uses it as an outlet for her creativity.

Using only things such as clothes, towels, socks and vegetables, Mami Koide turns her daughters dreams into art.

A cartoonist by trade, Koide wasn't sure if her husband would find her new art style amusing.

[Mami Koise, 41-Year Old Cartoonist and Mother]:
"At the beginning, I wasn't sure whether the illustration crafted with clothes would really look like a picture, but after I sent it to my husband, I was very pleased to hear that he really got it and that it was interesting. It made him chuckle."

Koide's husband explains that when he has to work late, the photos are a nice reminder of what's important.

[Katsunori Sunami, Bar Owner and Father of Nuno]:
"When I look at these pictures during my work at night, I'm assured that she's fine, and I think that I should work hard to make this girl happy."

Three months ago, Koide published a collection of her 200 sleeping infant art photos.

She was surprised when her book became a best seller on Amazon Japan just a week after it was released.

Sadly, Koide says that she will soon have to retire her sleeping infant art career.

Nuno is outgrowing her canvas, and with 200 photos, she says she says she thinks its enough.
